Siobhan Chandler, 21, of Newark, received a 12-year prison sentence for her involvement in a series of violent crimes in Jersey City, including three robberies and two shootings.

Jersey City, NJ - Siobhan Chandler, a 21-year-old woman from Newark, was sentenced to 144 months in prison for her participation in a violent crime spree that took place in Jersey City on the evening of November 14, 2023. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.

Chandler had previously pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, conspiracy to use and carry a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, attempted Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and using and carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. U.S. District Judge Brian R. Martinotti imposed the sentence on May 14, 2024, in Newark federal court.

The charges against Chandler's co-conspirator, Rodney Williams, remain allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Details of the Crime Spree:

  • Gas Station Robbery: Chandler and Williams robbed a gas station, with Williams pointing a gun at an attendant and demanding money.
  • Store Robbery: The pair later entered a store, where Williams again used a firearm to threaten a clerk into handing over money.
  • Restaurant Robbery and Shooting: Chandler and Williams then targeted a nearby restaurant. Williams shot the cashier in the chest while demanding money.

In addition to her prison term, Chandler was sentenced to five years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office for their roles in the investigation leading to Chandler’s sentencing. He also acknowledged the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shontae D. Gray of the Economic Crimes Unit in Newark.
