Description
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - TAPinto Berkeley Heights recently sat with Kristina Brusco, the co-owner of Diamond Hill Montessori School, to delve into the school's philosophy and its active role within the local community.
Established 22 years ago in Berkeley Heights, Diamond Hill Montessori serves as a beacon of holistic education. Brusco, a parent herself and co-owner for the past two years, emphasized their commitment to tailoring education to each child's unique needs. With classrooms designed to foster patience, social skills, and individual growth, the school provides a nurturing environment for children aged two and a half to kindergarten. And recently, the state approved an additional classroom starting in September.
In light of the pandemic, which heightened the importance of personalized learning, Diamond Hill Montessori has reached full capacity, with a waitlist for toddler classrooms since December. Brusco observed a renewed interest in Montessori education, as parents now more readily appreciate its ability to accommodate diverse learning styles. [Following this interview, the school received approval from the state to open an additional classroom starting in September, which will accommodate the school's demand.]
Beyond academics, Diamond Hill Montessori is deeply invested in community engagement. Brusco highlighted their involvement with organizations like Moms Helping Moms, where they collect donations year-round to support local families in need. Recent initiatives include drives for food, luggage, and now, costume jewelry and accessories to provide Mother's Day gifts for children.
In addition to community outreach, Diamond Hill Montessori actively participates in the local business community. Brusco emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual support among businesses, fostering a sense of belonging and unity within Berkeley Heights.
Diamond Hill Montessori is committed to nurturing not only young minds but also a strong sense of community spirit. Through its holistic approach to education and active community involvement, Diamond Hill Montessori continues to make a positive impact, shaping the future of Berkeley Heights one child and one community initiative at a time.
