Description

MORRISTOWN, NJ — As of this morning, motorists across Morris County are facing multiple lane closures and potential delays due to a series of ongoing construction projects on several major roadways. The closures, which impact US 46, Interstate 80 (I-80), NJ 23, NJ 124, and US 202, are due to both emergency and scheduled construction work, causing significant traffic management changes until late afternoon.

On US 46 westbound, emergency construction just west of NJ 53 in Denville Township has shut down one right lane as crews undertake urgent repairs. The disruption began at 10:32 AM and is one of several incidents on US 46, which also sees lane and shoulder closures in Dover, Mine Hill Township, and Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, affecting both directions of traffic flow until 3:00 PM.

I-80 is also experiencing considerable construction activity. Westbound lanes between Mount Olive Township and Knowlton Township have right shoulder closures, while further disruptions occur near Exit 30 in Roxbury Township with a left lane closure scheduled to clear by 1:00 PM.

NJ 23 reports multiple construction sites, including closures in both directions between Pequannock Township and Kinnelon, as well as northbound lane closures at I-287 in Riverdale. All projects on NJ 23 are expected to continue affecting traffic until 3:00 PM.

Additionally, NJ 124 from Morristown to Maplewood Township and US 202 in Harding Township are undergoing construction with all lanes currently open on NJ 124, but US 202 will see a right lane and shoulder closure north of CR 646/Tempe Wick Rd until 2:00 PM.

Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes or allow extra travel time. The New Jersey Department of Transportation urges drivers to be cautious when navigating near work zones and to stay alert for changing traffic patterns.

For real-time traffic updates and more detailed information on detours and expected delays, motorists can consult local traffic news or the NJDOT website. Stay tuned to local news outlets for updates on these and other traffic advisories throughout the day.
