Gov. Livingston vs Johnson (12-11 loss)
In a nail-biting match, the Gov. Livingston boys' lacrosse team showed true grit against Johnson, fighting until the final seconds of the 12-11 battle. Michael Nelson's stellar performance in goal kept GL in the game, while Brett Peer's exceptional effort saw him score, tying the game 11-11 with just over a minute left on the clock. However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, an unnoticed technicality enabled Johnson to dislodge the ball from Nelson's stick and score the winning goal in the dying seconds. Despite the setback, Peer's four goals and one assist, Christian Magliacano's four goals and assist, Owen Chait's two goals and assist, Caleb Leong's one goal and assist, and Andy Nappi's two assists, combined with Nelson's 14 saves, underscored the team's unwavering determination. Throughout the game, the team demonstrated a strong defensive effort, highlighted by their groundball statistics. Ryan Honey and Patrick Kingsley particularly stood out to bolster the team's defense until the final whistle.
Gov. Livingston vs Parsippany Hills (13-5 loss)
In their matchup against Parsippany Hills, Gov. Livingston struggled to maintain the momentum they had shown in their previous game against Johnson. Their tenacity seemed to wane, leading to a frustrating first half where they found themselves trailing 8-1. Despite efforts to regroup, they couldn't find a way to turn the tide, entering the fourth quarter with a substantial deficit of 11-2. However, a spark of determination ignited within Brett Peer, who rallied with three goals, ultimately contributing to a final score of 13-5. Christian Magliacano and Caleb Leong also contributed with a goal each. Parsippany Hills emerged victorious, showcasing a strong offensive performance led by Damian Carrigan's five goals. Despite the loss, Gov. Livingston's Mac Chiefa stood out defensively with an impressive 12 face-off wins out of 20.
Next up, Gov. Livingston (3-5) will host Blair Academy(3-3) on Senior Night at Snyder Field, starting at 6:30 p.m. The senior ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
