Description

From Morristown High School:

The public is invited to hear Morristown High School students discuss their community projects from Life Design Lab, at Life Design Night on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

For a class project, Morristown High School freshman Emilia Rockwood has organized a fund drive called ‘Feeding Morristown.’ Photo by Eden Collins.

It runs from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the high school. Admission is free.

“The Life Design Lab at Morristown High School is a unique program that combines three aspects of problem solving and personal development, that aspires to address the changing landscape of what it means to ‘know’ something. It is our belief that the best way to learn something is by doing something,” teachers John Madden and Matt Daly explain in the program notes.

Scheduled presentations include:

  • Abigail Osorio, senior: Her journey with developing and implementing teacher professional development at Rutgers
  • Emilia Rockwood, freshman: Setting up the fundraiser during restaurant week to benefit nourishNJ.
  • Caroline Conlin, sophomore: Organizing and implementing a chapter of Morgan’s Message, which is suicide prevention for athletes.
  • Jessica Ricciardelli, sophomore: Writing a first-person semi-fictional novel.
  • Maya Chowdury, freshman: Exploring ways to live a purposeful, balanced, satisfying life.
  • Todd Marks, junior: An educational brochure for the Town of Morristown
  • Paige Mangus, freshman: Organizing an end of year banquet to honor Unified Sports (students with disabilities).
  • Maggie Stork, sophomore: Established and is running a tutorial program for students living at Homeless Solutions Inc.
