ROXBURY, NJ - Plans are underway for Roxbury Township’s 2024 Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 27 starting at 10 a.m. 

The Township is seeking donors (to help pay for the bagpipers and other parade costs) and participants to march in the parade.

On Memorial Day, we honor our fallen soldiers as well as the men and women past and present who have served our country.  To pay tribute, the Township of Roxbury proudly hosts a parade that ends with a special memorial service at the War Memorial located on “the island” at Horseshoe Lake, 72 Eyland Ave., Succasunna. 

Donations are requested to help fund the cost of the parade and ceremony. Please go to the town’s website to download the donor request letter and form and consider making a tax-deductible donation to support this special event to honor Roxbury’s Veterans. Your generosity will be acknowledged in the event program. The donation deadline has been extended until April 26.

Community groups (Scouts, sport teams, clubs, etc.) are invited to participate and march in the parade. Click the link above to download the registration form and return it no later than Monday, May 6.

We respectfully invite all Roxbury veterans to march (or ride) in the parade. VFW members should encourage other veterans to join with them. There will be several classic cars driven in the parade for veterans needing a ride along the 2-mile parade route.  Please call (no later than May 6) Parade Committee member Michele O’Halloran at 973-448-2002 if you’d like to participate and need a ride.

The Roxbury community is invited and encouraged to gather along the entire parade route to honor our veterans as the parade marches by. The parade starts at 25 Meeker St. at Roosevelt School, travels south on Hillside Avenue, goes east on Main Street, south on Eyland Avenue crossing over Rt. 10, past Eisenhower Middle School and then turns into the Horseshoe Lake recreation complex. It ends at the War Memorial on the island. 

All are invited to attend the 11 a.m. memorial service at the War Memorial to further show support for Roxbury’s Veterans and all those who have served.

In case of rain, please check the town’s website and social media pages for announcements.  If the parade is canceled due to rain (determined by 7 a.m. on the morning of the parade), the memorial service will still be held at the covered picnic pavilion on the island at Horseshoe Lake starting at 11 a.m. and all are encouraged to attend. If wind-driven rain is forecast, the service will be held inside the Senior Center at 72 Eyland Ave.
